RPGs!

In this post we'll take a look at some ads for Role Playing Games from The Uncanny X-Men.
For those of you hoping this was going to be about Rocket Powered Grenades, I apologize, but here's a little consolation prize for you.

Now for RPG ads!

Board games!

Before there were video games there were board games.
That's pretty much the whole story.
In a rectangular box, there was another piece of cardboard, a few games pieces and some dice or a spinner or a pop-o-matic bubble or whatever.
Then there were video games.

Junk food!

There were always ads for junk food in comic books.
Since the target demographic for comic books was children, it was good business sense to take out ads in what they were paying for the privilege of looking at.
I can't help but think that the advertising worked, because I've put just about everything they advertized into my mouth at one time or another.
Fruit Stripes was my brand of gum.
The Ferrara Pan candies were my favorite candy.
Cherry Clan, Alexander The Grape and Johnny Appleheads.
And I still enjoy a cherry Icee to wash down the popcorn when I go to the movies.
